Tea plantation requires mainly tropical and sub-tropical climates. Height of the tea-plant brings assurance of good quality tea. When Tea-plant reaches at the age of four, harvesting begins. As tea-leaves are plucked by hand, it is extremely lengthy and painstaking process. Tea harvesting follows three techniques. They are standard harvest, medium harvest and raw harvest.
As for the plucking, when plucking the tea leaves, only bud and second & third leaves are plucked. This is called fine plucking of Tea. One tea estate generally produces three thousand leaves per year. Once collected in the basket, these fine quality tea leaves are taken to factory for processing.
